Tuesday-Update

This week we have a committee meeting in the Watauga River Room @5PM on Tuesday November 29. 
Wednesday
On Wednesday November 30 in Raley Room 1018, we will be holding our elections at 5PM.
After our meeting We will be having senior night at Dos Amigos 6:15PM
Friday
Our annual Casino Night @7PM Friday at Club member Ben Agner's House. Check back for directions.
 
 

 Committee meeting 

The Committee meeting will be this Tuesday @ 5:15PM in the Watuaga river room in the Plemmons Student Union.
Operation Christmas Child  held in Raley 1018 at 5:00pm. Bring materials to put in boxes, including items such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, toys, school supplies, washcloths, and soap.  Add a personal note to make it more meaningful to the children in need.  We will provide the boxes, so no need to worry about that!  You can earn up to 2 points for attending and participating. Every 30 minutes, you can earn 1 point for a maximum of 2 points.  You must sign in (with both your name and the time you arrive/depart) and sign out to receive full credit. In addition, you can earn 2 points per box you pack (maximum of 6 pts) which would help the Vegas attendees reach the 35 point requirement!! Even if you’re not going to Vegas, you can earn points and possibly win a prize on November 30th! (See below for more details)  If you plan to attend, see the next note.
 
Survey Monkey – RESPOND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!  The survey monkey is for the Operation Christmas Child meeting on Wednesday, November 16th at 5:00pm in Raley 1018.  Please reply to make sure we have enough pizza for everyone.  We need to know by NOON on Wednesday, November 16th!

DON’T FORGET!!! – The next Vegas payment of $325 is due by THIS WEDNESDAY, November 16th.  You can pay during office hours Monday – Thursday from 2:00-3:25pm in Raley 2108-A or at the OCC meeting Wednesday.  Don’t lose points and be charged for late payments!

This weeks general meeting will be meeting in Hawks Bill Game Room at 5:00PM in the Plemmons Student Union. We will be begining to film our promtional video. For those who come and stay afterwards we be playing some pool.

Movie Night - Update!

This Thursday, Nov. 3rd. we will be seeing Harry Potter 7: The Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 at the IG Greer Auditorium. Show time is 9:45PM. Be sure to get there early (9:10) for a good seat and popcorn.

Duke Energy is coming on Wednesday October 26 @ 5:00PM in Raley Room 1020. The Duke Energy representatives will include several ASU CIS alumni. Food from PIZZA HUT and drinks will be provided.

We will meet at Los Arcoiris at 6PM. Los Arcoiris is located behind Burger King on U.S.321.

Sept. 7 - AITP General Meeting - 5pm in Raley 1018

We will hold our General Meeting and Las Vegas interest meeting on Wed., Sept. 7 at 5pm in Raley 1018.  This meeting will provide you an informal setting to ask questions about the club and find out more about leadership opportunities and the Las Vegas / Consumer Electronics Show trip.  Our officers will also provide paperwork and take payments before and after the meeting for AITP membership dues, Microsoft software orders, and Las Vegas deposits.
The trip to Las Vegas is filling up quickly, so please plan to make a deposit during AITP office hours (Raley 2108-A --- M-Th 2pm-325pm) or at Wednesday's meeting if you're planning to go. 
 
AITP Kickoff Meeting

At the meeting we will discuss our club and the events we are going to do this semester. 
Including:
  • Las Vegas and the Consumer Electronics Show
  • Microsoft and other great companies that will be visiting throughout the semester.
  • Microsoft will be discussing cloud computing
At the meeting we will be giving away FREE Pizza and Drinks. Some of our Door prizes will be:

Week of April 4:
Wed., Apr 6 - Blackbaud will be presenting at 5pm in Raley 1015. Also, there will be FREE PIZZA provided by Blackbaud. We hope to have a great turnout heading into the end of the semester. We hope to see you all there.
NATIONAL CHAPTER OF THE YEAR!
Our ASU AITP student chapter won the ASSOCIATION OUTSTANDING CHAPTER OF THE YEAR AWARD this past weekend! We were honored as the TOP club out of over 300 AITP student chapters across 45 states (see http://aitp.org/organi...rs/chapters.jsp) based upon our performance in five areas: Education, Membership, Public Relations, Meetings, and Association Participation.
This means we're now the #1 AITP Student Chapter in the US!!!
Eleven of our students competed this past weekend at the AITP National Collegiate Conference in Orlando. In addition to winning the best overall student chapter award, our club also won the following awards:
-Region Outstanding Chapter of the Year (only three schools nationwide to receive this award / top chapter in our region)
-Graduate Papers Competition - FIRST PLACE - Christopher Taylor
-Best Tech/Geek Video Contest - SECOND PLACE - Alex Upchurch
-Best Tech/Geek Video Contest - HONORABLE MENTION - Katharine Edwards
In addition, Chad Johnson earned the Microsoft Technology Associate networking certification at the conference.
Way to go, everyone! 

Week of March 28:

This week we will be going to Bo's on Thursday from 6pm-9pm for College Night. It's $10 for everything there is to do at Bo's. Come join us - it's going to be a ton of fun!
If you plan on going, email Susie by 9pm Tuesday. If you are willing to drive or need a ride, please indicate this in your response so we can coordinate rides for those who need them.

Week of March 21:

Successful Silent Auction
We want to thank everyone who attended and participated in our Annual AITP Silent Auction. We were able to raise over $3,500 to help our club. We had over 150 great items and we want to thank every company and person who donated to this cause!
Wed., Mar 23 - Mandatory NCC meeting in room Raley 1015 at 5:00pm. We will be going over our itinerary for the trip.

Week of March 14:

Tues., Mar 15 - AITP Committees Meeting in the Linville Falls room - it is located on the second floor of the Student Union. - 5pm
Wed., Mar 16 - We will be having our annual AITP Silent Auction Fundraiser in the Student Union this coming Wednesday night. We have hundreds of items to auction off with our top auctions being a Lenovo Laptop, Apple iPod Touch, and a Cabin Rental in Seven Devils. Come out and support AITP as this is our biggest fundraiser opportunity!

Week of Feburary 28

Tues., Mar. 1 - This is a mandatory meeting for those who are going to the NCC later this month. AITP Committees Meeting in the Linville Falls room - it is located on the second floor of the Student Union. - 5pm
Wed., Mar 2 - Silent Auction prep meeting 5pm in room 1015 in Raley. We will be going over a run through of the silent auction end process where we collect and peoples items so it will go smoothly this year. This meeting is Mandatory for those going to the NCC!!

Week of February 21:

Tues., Feb. 22 - AITP Committees Meeting in the Linville Falls room - it is located on the second floor of the Student Union. - 5pm
Wed., Feb 23 - Orasi Software will be presenting this coming Wednesday at 5:00pm in Raley 1015. Orasi software is a software testing company that is located in Greensboro and is growing rapidly. Come learn about potential internship and job opportunities.

Week of February 14:

Tues., Feb. 15 - AITP Committees Meeting in the Linville Falls room - it is located on the second floor of the Student Union. - 5pm
Wed., Feb. 16 - Cisco will be presenting at 5:00pm in Raley 1015. Come hear about internships and job opportunties that Cisco has. This is a great chance to network as internships and jobs are important. We hope to see you there.

Wed., Feb. 2 - Honeywell company visit will be held this Wednesday at 5:00pm in Raley 1018. Honeywell will talk about internships and job opportunities. Honeywell has hired many App students in the past so if you are in need of an internship or job, please make sure you attend. We hope to see you all there.

Week of January 24:

We hope every one had fun at our Spring kickoff meeting this past Thursday as We had 215 people attend. Thank you to all of those who helped make this happened. We will begin having meetings this week on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tuesday, Nov. 16, 5:00 PM, Linville Falls Room (Student Union)- Please come to our weekly Committee's meeting. We will discuss future events, the Silent Auction, Operation Christmas Child and other club topics. 
Wednesday, Nov. 17, 5:00 PM, Raley 1020- We will be having a General AITP meeting. Topics include: officer positions and elections and the National Collegiate Conference this Spring in Orlando, Florida. 
Friday, Nov. 19, 7:00 PM- Casino night will be held at John Middleton's house. Directions will be provided next week. Entry will be based upon 5 cans of food or $5.00. Please come out and socialize with others in your club and learn how to play casino games. We hope to see you then! 

Week of November 8:

Tues., Nov. 9:
5:00 PM- AITP Committees Meeting in the Linville Falls room - it is located on the second floor of the Student Union.
6:00 - 7:30 PM- Microsoft will be holding an Information Session in Raley 1020. This is a SUPER opportunity to find out more about positions at Microsoft. Pizza and drinks will be served, and they will offer some great giveaways as well.
Wed., Nov. 10, 5:00-6:00 PM- Operation Christmas Child box wrapping party in the faculty lounge on the 4th floor of Raley Hall. We now have the official Operation Christmas Child boxes, which we will provide for you. You do not need to bring your own box. However, you will need to bring the items to put in the box and a $7.00 check for S&H purposes. For more information about what include in your box, go to www.samaritanspurse.com/occ

Wed., Oct. 13 - AITP General Meeting: We will be discussing future plans for AITP that will change how we operate. We will also be discussing our trip to the NCC in Orlando, FL. We encourage all of those who can attend to please come and support our club. This meeting will be taking place in Raley 1020 @ 5pm

Tues., Oct. 5 - AITP Committees Meeting in a NEW location - the Linville Falls room - it is located on the second floor of the Student Union. - 5pm
Wed., Oct. 6 - IBM is presenting in Raley 1020 at 5:00 PM. Chris O'Connor, VP of Industry Solutions Software, will be informing us about life at IBM, as well as internship and job opportunities. - 7pm
Fri., Oct. 8 - We will be going to Cisco Systems in Raleigh this friday. We will be leaving at 7:00am sharp from Raley Traffic Circle and will be returning later that day. If you are willing to drive and bring along others, please let Dr. Hunsinger know asap. We will be providing and update tomorrow.

Week of September 27:

Tues., Sept. 28 - AITP Committees Meeting in Library 114 - 5pm
Wed., Sept. 29 - AITP Cookout and Game Night Social at Jeremy Lane's House - 7pm

Week of Sept. 20:

We will hold elections for chairs and co-chairs at the AITP Committees Meeting on Tuesday at 5pm in Library Room 114. 
On Wednesday, Cisco Systems will be presenting in ***Library Room 114*** at 5pm. If you are entering the library from the back entrance (the parking deck side), the room is the first room on the left. It is directly across the hall from the vending machines. If you are entering the library from the front entrance, across from the Student Union, walk towards the back entrance as if you were going to the parking deck. Walk past the bathrooms and room 114 will be immediately on the right.
If you're going on the Las Vegas trip, remember that you must email your CES registration to Dr. Hunsinger by Mon., Sept. 27.

Week of Sept. 13, 2010

Thanks for another huge turnout last Wednesday for the Microsoft guest speaker - we crammed 162 attendees into Raley 1020! 
This week, we'll have our first AITP Committee meeting on Tuesday at 5pm in Library Room 114.
On Wednesday, Eastman will be speaking in Raley 1020 at 5pm. Remember that Wednesday is also the deadline for paying your deposit and turning in the paperwork for the Vegas trip. After Wednesday, assuming any spots are still available, the pricing tiers will increase by $50.

Week of Sept. 6, 2010

We packed the Grandfather Mountain Ballroom with a staggering 326 attendees on Sept. 1, shattering the previous attendance record of 268 set last Fall! Thank you so much for your attendance. We really appreciate it!
For students interested in the Vegas trip, we will have a follow-up interest meeting following the Microsoft guest speaker on Wed., Sept. 8 at 6:30pm in Raley 1020. The deadline to pay the $25 minimum deposit for the trip is Sept. 15.
For anyone who didn't get an information packet at the kickoff meeting, they can stop by the AITP office (Raley 2108-A) M-Th 3:30pm - 4:45pm.

Las Vegas Interest Meeting

We will have a Las Vegas / Consumer Electronics Show interest meeting on Wednesday (the 2nd) at 5pm in Raley 1020. If you cannot attend but are interested in going on the trip in early January before classes begin, you must email Dr. H (hunsingerds) before 5pm Wednesday.

AITP Kickoff Meeting

Welcome back everyone and welcome to all the new incoming freshmen and transfer students! We're very excited about this year here at AITP and are looking forward to telling you about all the exciting events we have planned this year. We will be holding our Kickoff meeting on August 31 from 5:00pm-5:45pm in the Blue Ridge Ballroom in the Student Union. 
You'll get information at the meeting about our planned trips this year to places including Las Vegas and St. Louis . We will also be offering FREE pizza, beverages, and giveaways for everyone (not to mention the chance to win one of many door prizes just for attending)!
